Canada invited 636 candidates in the June 22 Express Entry draw to apply for permanent residence. The invited candidates are those who have received a provincial nomination and having a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 752. The score is relatively high because the candidates have already received an additional 600 CRS score points when they received the provincial nomination. It means the base score of those who have received nomination in the draw was 152 points. In the previous draw held on 932 Express Entry candidates with a minimum CRS score of 796 had received invitations.
All-program Express Entry draws to resume on July 6
In the meantime, Immigration Minister Sean Fraser has hinted about resuming the all-program Express Entry draws on July 6, according to news reports. Earlier in April, though the Minister had announced that all-program draws would be resumed in July, a date had not been offered.
Since September 2021, all Express Entry draws have exclusively been focusing on PNP candidates. All-program draws were temporarily paused because Canada had a huge backlog of Express Entry applications to process. As the backlog issue has effectively been managed, Canada will be resuming all-program draws.
Canada Express Entry system
Express Entry system manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs of Canada, which are the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). Almost all PNP draws have at least one stream or category that is aligned to the federal Express Entry. Also, candidates with a provincial nomination receive 600 additional CRS score points that make them eligible to receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
