In the largest ever all-program Express Entry draw held on March 16, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 7000 immigration candidates to apply for permanent residence. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the invited candidates was 490. The latest draw has broken the previous record of the all-program draw held on January 18, which invited 5500 immigration candidates. Between these two all-program draws, four program-specific draws were held. Three among them targeted Provincial Nominee Program(PNP) candidates while one targeted Federal Skilled Worker Program(FSWP) candidates. The previous draw held on March 1 was a PNP-specific draw that invited 697 candidates.
2021 Express Entry data released
The IRCC recently released the data on Express Entry draws held in the year 2021. The IRCC did not conduct any all-program draws during that year and invited only Canadian Experience Class(CEC) and Provincial Nominee Program(PNP) candidates. In 2021, the IRCC issued a total of 114,431 invitations. Almost 64% of these invitations were issued candidates in the age group of 20-29. Also, the majority of invitations were issued to candidates who had already been living in Canada. However, overseas candidates also received invitations and the highest number of such invitations went to Indians, 3826 in total. Nigerians came second having received 1432 invitations. 806 applicants from USA and 687 applicants from China received Express Entry invitations in 2021. These were the nationalities who received the highest number of Express Entry invitations in that year.
Canada Express Entry
Canada Express Entry system is an online system that manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs of Canada, which are the Canadian Experience Class(CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program(FSWP) and Federal Skilled Trades Program(FSTP). The Express Entry candidates are assessed and ranked on the basis of Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score, which is awarded on the basis of various human capital factors such as age, education, work experience, language ability etc. Those with the highest scores receive invitations to apply for permanent residence in the Express Entry draws that are conducted regularly. Express Entry candidates nominated by provinces get 600 additional CRS score points, which put them in a better position to receive an Express Entry invitation.
The candidates who have received an Express Entry invitation may submit the complete application within 60 days. If their application is approved, they will be issued a Canada PR visa.
