What is Australia Relative Visa?
Australia Relative Visa allows relatives of an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand Citizen to migrate and settle in Australia.
What Are the Australia Relative Visa Requirements?
In general, a person will be seeking for an Australia Relative Visa if he/she is facing the following scenario:
- The individual is aged and is financially dependant on relatives who live in Australia.
- The applicant’s only remaining relatives are in Australia and he/she wishes to live with them.
To obtain an Australian Visa, the candidate must meet the following Australia Relative Visa Requirements:
- The candidate must be related to an Australian citizen or a permanent resident of Australia or an eligible New Zealand Citizen.
- The person that the candidate is related should be aged above 18 years.
- The candidate should have a sponsor who is willing to sponsor and he/she should be aged above 18 years of age.
- The candidate will have to obtain an Assurance of Support to apply for an Australia Relative Visa.
There are several Australia Relative Visa classes under which the application will be processed & approved depending on the scenario.
Aged Dependent Relative Visa (Subclass 114)
An applicant will be eligible to avail this Australia Relative Visa if he/she meets the following requirements:
- The applicant should be sponsored by a relative who lives in the Australian continent.
- The applicant should meet dependency requirements.
- The applicant should have an assurance of support and meet health & character requirements.
Remaining Relative Visa (Subclass 115)
- The applicant’s only relatives should be living in Australia.
- The applicant should be sponsored by an eligible relative or his/her partner who lives in Australia.
- The applicant should have obtained an assurance of support and should meet health & character requirements as specified by the government.
Aged Dependent Relative Visa (Subclass 838): –
To obtain Aged Dependant Australia Relative Visa, the applicant should meet the following requirements:
- The applicant should be sponsored by a partner or their relative who resides in Australia.
- The applicant should meet dependency & age requirements.
- The applicant should have obtained an assurance of support and should meet health & character requirements as specified by the government.
Remaining Relative Visa (Subclass 835)
If the applicant wants to migrate to Australia under the Remaining Relative Visa, he/she should meet the following requirements:
- The applicant should have his only relatives in Australia.
- The applicant should be sponsored by an eligible partner or their relative who lives in Australia.
- The applicant should have obtained an assurance of support and should meet health & character requirements.

Every year, the Minister for Home Affairs might limit the number of visas people can get. This process of limiting the visas is called capping. Once the capping limit has been reached, the applicant must wait for a year until the visa issue process starts again.
