Alberta Express Entry stream
Alberta Express Entry Stream, launched in 2018, allows the province to look for candidates, who meet its specific labour market requirements, in the federal Express Entry pool. The candidates selected for provincial nomination from Alberta will receive 600 additional CRS score points that would ensure them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draw. Alberta has issued a total of 3,554 invitations to Express Entry candidates so far this year.
Application procedure
In order to be eligible to apply for provincial nomination under the Alberta Express Entry stream, the Express Entry candidates must have a minimum CRS score of 300. They must also be working in an occupation that supports the economic development and diversification priorities of Alberta, besides fulfilling other requirements.
Though it is not mandatory that the candidates must have a job offer or previous work experience in Alberta, the candidates who have the following advantages are prioritized by the province:
- a job offer and/or work experience in Alberta;
- a degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer; or
- a parent, child or sibling already living in Alberta.
