In the 123th Express Entry draw held on August 12, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 3600 candidates to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 466.
Normally, the time gap between two Express Entry draws is two weeks. But this time, more than two weeks passed after the previous Express Entry draw, which was held on July 24. Compared to the previous draw, the minimum CRS score is seven points more in the August 12 Express Entry draw. The long interval between the two latest draws is assumed to be the reason for high CRS requirement. During this prolonged period, Express Entry pool must have been replenished with more high-scoring candidates.
Tie-break rule was applied in the August 12 draw, the time stamp given being August 6, 2019, at 12:14:53 UTC. It means all candidates with a minimum CRS score of 466, who submitted their Express Entry profiles before the said date and time, were priorized in the August 12 draw.
With the latest draw, the total number of ITAs issued by IRCC in Express Entry draws held so far this year has touched 52600. The number of ITAs issued was the same at 3600 in the past three consecutive draws held since July 10. It marks an increase of 250 ITAs compared to each of the 10 all-program Express Entry draws held between January 30 and June 26, 2019. As Canada has set a higher immigration target for this year compared to previous years, it is expected that the CRS scores would come down in the upcoming draws.
Nevertheless, latest Canada immigration trends show that candidates with low CRS scores need not be disappointed as many PNP streams and categories are inviting candidates with low CRS scores to apply for provincial nomination.
