British Columbia Tech Pilot program extended till June 2020

British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) announced on June 3 that its Tech Pilot program will be extended till June 2020. The BC PNP Tech Pilot program was introduced in 2017 as a fast-tracked pathway to permanent residency to Canada, aiming to bring in more skilled workers to the province. The candidates with a job offer in one of the 29 eligible occupations of the Tech Pilot program are eligible to apply. The Express Entry candidates who receive provincial nomination through Tech Pilot will obtain additional 600 points towards their CRS score

British Columbia Tech Pilot:

In order to be eligible for provincial nomination under British Columbia Tech Pilot, a candidate must have a full-time job offer from a British Columbia employer.
The job offer must also be:

  • For one of the 29 eligible occupations under the Tech Pilot program.
  • Of at least one year in duration.
  • At least 120 days must be remaining in the job offer at the time of application.

  • Managers publishing, motion pictures, broadcasting and performing arts
  • Civil engineers
  • Mechanical engineers
  • Electrical and electronics engineers
  • Chemical engineers

  • Information system analysts and consultants
  • Database analysts and data administrators
  • Software engineers and designers
  • Computer programmers and interactive media developers
  • Web designers and developers
  • Biological technologists and technicians
  • Electrical and electronics engineering technologists and technicians
  • Electronic service technicians
  • Industrial instrument technicians and mechanics
  • Computer network technicians
  • User support technicians
  • Information systems testing technicians
  • Authors and writers
  • Editors
  • Translators, terminologists and interpreters
  • Broadcast technicians
  • Audio and video recording technicians
  • Technical and coordinating occupations in motion pictures, broadcasting, and the performing arts
  • Support occupations in motion pictures, broadcasting, photography and performing arts.
  • Graphic designers and illustrators
  • Technical sales specialists wholesale trade

BC PNP Tech Pilot: Application process:

  • Register online and receive a registration score.
  • BC PNP regularly conducts Tech Pilot draws to invite the highest scoring registrants.
  • Invited candidates shall submit the completed online application within 30 days from the date of invitation.
  • If approved, the applicant will receive a nomination with which he/she can apply for PR.
  • The nominated candidates, if they meet the conditions of the nomination, will receive a work permit support letter that allows them to obtain or renew their current work permit. It means the candidate can continue working throughout the application process
