Express Entry draw: CRS cut-off score drops to the lowest since May

In the latest Express Entry draw held on August 20, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 3600 candidates to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 457.
The latest Express Entry draw is being held after a gap of just eight days since the previous draw was held on August 12. In this draw, the CRS cut-off score has come down significantly from 466 in the previous draw to 457, which is the lowest since May this year.
Tie-break rule was applied in August 20 draw, the time stamp given being March 24, 2019 at 15:32:42 UTC. It means those candidates with a minimum CRS score of 457 and submitted their Express Entry profiles before the said date and time, were prioritized in the draw.
The drop in CRS cut-off score by nine points in the latest Express Entry draw compared to the previous draw can be attributed to the shorter interval between the two draws. Normally, Express Entry draws happen in every two weeks. But the gap was only eight days between the latest two Express Entry draws.  It means lesser time for the Express Entry pool to replenish with eligible profiles.
Moreover, IRCC has been issuing 3600 ITAs in the past several draws. This number is comparatively larger when compared to most of the draws held in the first half of 2019. A larger number of ITAs is also a reason for the decrease in the CRS cut-off score. It is assumed that the larger number of ITAs issued in the recent Express Entry draws would help Canada break its 2018 record of issuing 89800 ITAs in a single year.
