In the fourteenth Express Entry draw of 2023, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 4800 immigration candidates to apply for permanent residence. This all-program draw held on June 8, targeted candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score of 486.Canada pnp finderThis is also the first draw to be held in the month of June. In the previous draw held on May 24, a total of 4800 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 488 received invitations. In the draw held on April 26, the score was 483.

Category-based Express Entry draws

Meanwhile, the IRCC has revealed that they have established six new categories targeting candidates who possess specific skills and qualifications with which they can contribute to Canada’s economic goals. These categories are:

  • Healthcare
  • Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
  • Trades, such as carpenters, plumbers and contractors
  • Transport
  • Agriculture and agri-food

The final category is for candidates who can speak French.

IRCC further announced that it would begin conducting category-based draws this summer. However, it did not provide the exact date. The IRCC will also continue to hold all-program draws and program-specific draws as needed.

Express Entry 2023

In the 13 previous draws held in 2023, a total of 49948 candidates have received invitations. Compared to the same period in 2022, this number is significantly high. It was in July 2022, the IRCC resumed all-program draws after a pause, imposed owing to COVID-19 pandemic.

In May 2023, IRCC held two Express Entry draws. The one held on May 10 targeted Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates and 589 invitations were issued. Two draws were held in April too. Both were all program-draws and invited 3500 candidates each. In the April 12 draw, candidates were required to have a minimum CRS score 346. In April 26 draw, the CRS score required was 483. Four draws were held in March and a total of 21677 candidates received invitations. In February too, four draws were held. Three of them were PNP-specific draws and one was Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP). In January, the two draws held were all-program draws.

Canada Express Entry draw

Express Entry system manages applications for immigration under the federal economic immigration programs, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program(FSW)Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class. The candidates are assessed and ranked on the basis of Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score and those with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residence, in the Express Entry draws that are held regularly.
