In the latest Express Entry draw held on April 17, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued a total of 3350 invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off threshold was 451.
This is the eighth draw of 2019 so far, where the number of invitations issued is set at or above 3350. The CRS cut-off threshold, 451 points, was also the same as in the previous draw that was held on April 3.
A tie-break was applied in the April 17 draw also, the time stamp given being April 2, 2019 at 15:01:49 UTC. It means all candidates with a minimum CRS score of 451, who submitted their profiles before the said date and time, were invited to apply for permanent residence.
IRCC has issued a total of 27,900 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to Express Entry candidates so far this year. Canada has set an ambitious target to admit more number of immigrants in the year 2019 and over the next two years. As per the updated Immigration Levels Plan for 2019-2021, Canada will be welcoming around 256,000 new immigrants through Express Entry over these three years and yet another 200,000 immigrants through Provincial Nominee Programs. According to immigration experts, these targets may also lead to minimum CRS requirements coming down further in the near future and draws becoming more frequent.
