Minimum CRS score drops further in latest Express Entry draw

In the Express Entry draw held on May 1, the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was dropped further to 450. Compared to the previous draw held on April 17, the minimum CRS score requirement was one point lower. The total number of invitations to apply (ITAs) issued in the latest draw is the same as in the previous draw– 3350.

Since the draw held on February 20th, this is the fourth time that the minimum cut-off Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is being decreased. With the latest Express Entry draw, the total number invitations issued so far in 2019 has reached 31250. This is 6,750 ITAs more compared to the same time period in 2018. In the year 2018, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) established a new Express Entry ITA record of 89,800 invitations issued in a single year. The total number of invitations to be issued in the years between 2019 and 2021 is about to increase further with higher admission targets set for these years through Express Entry. The minimum CRS score may also reduce further and the IRCC holds larger or more frequent Express Entry draws during these years.

As in the previous draws, tie-break rule was applied in the May 1 draw as well, the time stamp given being November 5, 2018, at 12:27:07 UTC. It means all candidates with a CRS score of 450 and above, who submitted their Express Entry profiles before the said date and time, were invited to apply.
