0213 – Computer and information systems managers

2147 – Computer engineers

2172 – Database analysts and data administrators

2173 – Software engineers and designers

2174 – Computer programmer and interactive media developers

Ontario began conducting tech draws in July 2019, with an aim to resolve the severe labour shortage crisis in the tech sector of the province.

The Human Capital Priorities stream under the OINP targets candidates with the required skills, education, work experience and language proficiency and nominate them for permanent residence in Canada. However, it is not possible for the candidates to apply directly under the stream.

Instead, they must receive a Notification of Interest or NOI from the OINP to apply for provincial nomination. The candidates are selected from the Express Entry pool by the OINP. The candidates who receive an NOI may submit their complete application within 45 days.

Human Capital Priorities Stream

To be eligible under this stream, a candidate must have an active Express Entry profile. They must have minimum one year of full-time work experience in an occupation classified under NOC 0, A or B. The minimum educational qualification for candidates under this stream is Bachelor’s degree. Those who have earned their educational credentials from outside Canada must have their Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) done. If they are residing in Canada, they must be residing legally in the country. They must also have language proficiency equal to CLB/NCLC level 7 in English or French. Further, they demonstrate their intention to settle in Ontario and submit necessary proof of settlement funds.
