In the first Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw of 2023, Manitoba invited 322 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination. The draw held on January 12 issued invitations to candidates belonging to three immigration streams under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), which are Skilled Workers in Manitoba, International Education Stream and Skilled Workers Overseas stream. A total of 260 candidates with a minimum score of 734 points received invitations under Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream. The International Education Stream candidates received 42 invitations and the remaining 20 invitations were issued to the Skilled Workers Overseas candidates and these invitations were issued through a Strategic Recruitment Initiative. The minimum required score was 713. Among the total number of invitees, 27 were Express Entry candidates with a job seeker validation codes.
Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream
Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream aims to cater to the specific needs of Manitoba employers. Under this stream, the province selects foreign-trained workers who are eligible and nominates them for permanent residence in Canada. However, the candidates must also have a strong attachment to Manitoba.
There are two pathways under this stream, which are Manitoba Work Experience Pathway and Employer Direct Recruitment Pathway. The Work Experience Pathway is for those candidates who are already working in Manitoba on a temporary work permit. Employer-Direct Recruitment Pathway is for those who have job offers from approved Manitoba employers.
Skilled Worker Overseas Stream
This stream has both a dedicated Canada Express Entry pathway and a direct provincial pathway. The stream caters candidates with work experience in one of the In-Demand occupations of Manitoba. The stream prioritises applicants who have close family connections, language proficiency, training and experience to find jobs quickly.
Manitoba Express Entry pathway is for those candidates who have an active Express Entry profile. They must also have work experience in one of Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations as well as a strong family connection to the province. At the same time, Human Capital Pathway chooses foreign skilled workers with skills, training and experience in one the In-Demand Occupations of Manitoba. They must also demonstrate that they have the potential to find employment as soon as they arrive in Manitoba.
International Education Stream
The International Education Stream is for international graduates from the colleges and universities of Manitoba. Now it is not mandatory for the candidates to have work experience of six months to work under this stream. The stream has three pathways:
- Career Employment Pathway
- Graduate Internship Pathway
- Student Entrepreneur Pathway
