Alberta has released the results of the Provincial Nominee Program(PNP) draw held on January 18. A total of 350 Express Entry candidates received invitations in the draw, which was the second draw of the current year. The candidates were required to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 346.
The candidates were invited through the Alberta Express Entry stream of Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program(AINP). If they successfully apply for and obtain provincial nomination, they will be able to apply for permanent residence in Canada with the same. As the PNP candidates will receive 600 additional CRS points, they will receive an invitation to apply for Canada PR in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
Alberta has announced the launch of its new Accelerated Tech Pathway last month. Eligible tech workers who apply through Alberta Express Entry stream may enjoy expedited processing under this new pathway.
Alberta Express Entry stream
Alberta Express Entry stream is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. To be eligible under the Alberta Express Entry stream, one must have an active Express Entry profile. The Express Entry system of Canada is an online platform for managing applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs, which are Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program. The candidates will be selected in each federal Express Entry draw based on their CRS score.
To be eligible under the Alberta Express Entry stream, the candidate must also have work experience in an eligible occupation. Work experience or education in Canada as well as a job offer from Alberta will increase your chances for receiving an invitation under Alberta Express Entry stream. The minimum CRS score requirements in Alberta Express Entry stream draws are usually between 300 and 350.
