Alberta had earlier stopped issuing invitations for a brief period following the restrictions imposed in the wake of COVID pandemic. Later, the invitations were issued only to those who had already been there in the province. Now this restriction has been removed. The province has again started to invite those who have a job offer from the province or experience in an occupation that can contribute to the economic development and diversification priorities of the province. Alberta’s nomination allocation for the current year is 6250.

Alberta Express Entry Stream

The Alberta Express Entry stream allows the province to select eligible candidates from the federal Express Entry pool and invite them to aply for provincial nomination. If they obtain a provincial nomination from Alberta, they will receive 600 additional CRS score points. In the case of candidates selected in the latest draw, if the CRS score of a candidate is 300, his total score will be 900 with the nomination. This will guarantee him an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent draw.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to receive a provincial nomination from Alberta under the Express Entry stream, the candidate must have work experience in one of the in-demand occupations of Alberta. They must also have expressed interest to move to Alberta in their Express Entry profile. Work experience in Alberta, Canadian education or a job offer from an Alberta employer can increase your chances of receiving an invitation. It will also help if you have close family members residing in the province.
