CRS score dropped to 301 in Alberta Express Entry draw of April 20

In the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program draw held on April 20, the province invited 200 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. All the Invited candidates belong to the Express Entry stream of AINP and have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score of 301. If the invited candidates successfully apply for and obtain a provincial nomination from Alberta, they will have 600 additional CRS score points added to their total score. This would guarantee them an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in Canada.

For a candidate with the lowest score who have received invitation in the latest draw, the total CRS score upon receiving the additional points would be 901. The CRS cut-off score in the last PNP specific Express Entry draw was 753. It means, those who have received invitations in the AINP draw will be invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada, if they are nominated by Alberta.

Alberta Express Entry stream

Alberta Express Entry stream is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. The stream allows the province of Alberta to select eligible candidates from the federal Express Entry pool and nominate them for permanent residence in Canada.

To be eligible under the Alberta Express Entry stream, the candidates must have strong ties to the province of Alberta. They must also have the skills and work experience to support the economic development and diversification priorities of the province. The candidates must also have work experience in an eligible occupation.

Canada Express Entry

The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for immigration under the three economic immigration programs of the country, which are Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program. Each candidates is awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System score based on various eligibility factors such as age, education, work experience, language ability etc. The candidates nominated by provinces get an additional 600 CRS score points. Those with the highest CRS score points are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the draws that are conducted regularly.
