The maximum Provincial Nominee Program allotment for Alberta for the year 2018 has been raised to 5600 nominations, it has been announced. It means, compared to last year, Alberta may send a 100 more nominations for permanent residence in Canada this year. In 2017, the nomination allotment for Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) was 5500.
The higher allotment is part of the multi-year immigration plan of the federal government that has raised the Provincial Nominee Program target of 2018 to 55000, compared to 2017’s target of 51000.

AINP immigration streams
Currently, AINP has three immigration streams– Strategic Recruitment Stream, Employer-driven Stream and Self-employed Farmer Stream. The first two of the above streams will be made into one single stream–Alberta Opportunity Stream– in 2018. Besides, Alberta will also introduce a stream aligned to Express Entry this year.
Under AINP, the most number of nominations are sent to applications that come under the 10 National Occupational Classification codes listed below:
- 6311 – Food Service Supervisors
- 6211 – Retail Sales Supervisors
- 7511 – Transport Truck Drivers
- 6315 – Cleaning Supervisors
- 7284 – Plasterers, Drywall Installers and Finishers and Lathers
- 1241 – Administrative assistants
- 0631 – Restaurant and Food Services Managers
- 0621 – Retail and Wholesale Trade Managers
- 6421 – Retail Salespersons
- 1221 – Administrative Officers
