In the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program draw held on March 11, a total of 299 immigration candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination. The fifth Manitoba PNP draw of the year targeted skilled workers and international graduates under the following three streams:
Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 261 candidates with a minimum Expression of Interest score of 459 received invitations
International Education Stream: 3 candidates with a minimum score of 728 were invited.
Skilled Workers Overseas: 35 candidates were invited.
The number of Express Entry candidates who received invitations in the draw was 35.
Manitoba PNP Express Entry
Manitoba selects eligible candidates from the Express Entry pool and nominates them for permanent residence in Canada. Express Entry system of Canada manages skilled worker applications. The Express Entry candidates are assessed and ranked on the basis of Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score. The candidates with the highest CRS scores are invited by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to apply for permanent residence in Express Entry draws that are conducted regularly. The candidates, if nominated by a province, will have 600 additional CRS score points added to their total CRS score. It ensures that they receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
How to receive a nomination from Manitoba PNP?
To receive a provincial nomination from Manitoba, a foreign skilled worker must first register and Expression of Interest. Each Expression of Interest profile is assessed and awarded a score out of 1000 based on various eligibility factors.
The Skilled Workers Overseas and the Skilled Workers in Manitoba streams target candidates who have to skills to cater to the labour market needs of the province. The Skilled Workers Overseas candidates need to demonstrate previous connection to the province in the form of close family members living in the province, previous work or study experience in Manitoba or an invitation issued through one of the Strategic Recruitment Initiatives of Manitoba to be eligible. To receive an invitation under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba category, candidates need to have a full-time job offer from a Manitoba employer.
The international graduates who have completed their education from one of the higher education institutions of Manitoba are considered for provincial nomination under the International Education Stream.
