In the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program(MPNP) draw held on December 30, the province invited 280 candidates to apply for provincial nomination. The invitations were issued through three of the immigration streams under the MPNP, which are the Skilled Workers in Manitoba, International Education Stream and Skilled Workers Overseas. The Skilled Workers in Manitoba candidates received 202 invitations and lowest score of the invited candidates was 750. International Education Stream candidates received 38 invitations. The remaining 40 invitations were issued to Skilled Workers Overseas candidates through a Strategic Recruitment Initiative and the minimum score was 711. Among the invitees, 21 were Express Entry candidates.
Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream
The Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream aims to address the specific needs of the Manitoba employers. So, the stream selects candidates with specific skills that are in demand in Manitoba and nominates them for permanent residence in Canada. Under the Stream, priority is given to those candidates who have a strong attachment to Manitoba. The Stream has two pathways- Manitoba Work Experience Pathway and Employer Direct Recruitment Pathway. The Manitoba Work Experience Pathway is for those applicants who are currently working in Manitoba on temporary work permits, both skilled workers and international graduates. However, it is not mandatory that the candidate is not working in In-Demand Occupations. Employer Direct Recruitment Pathway is for those applicants who have job offers from approved Manitoba employers.
Skilled Worker Overseas Stream
The Skilled Worker Overseas Stream has both a Canada Express Entry pathway and direct provincial pathway. It targets foreign skilled workers who have the skills and training in one of the In-Demand Occupations of Manitoba. However, the stream gives priority to applicants and spouses who have close family connections in the province, besides language proficiency, training and experience. The Express Entry stream of Manitoba is for those candidates who meet the Express Entry criteria and have an active Express Entry profile. Besides, they also need to have the skills, training and work experience in one of Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations. Strong family connection to Manitoba is another requirement.
At the same time, Human Capital Pathway is for international skilled workers with the skills, training and experience in one of Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations. They must also demonstrate that they have the potential to find employment in Manitoba, soon after they arrive.
International Education Stream
The International Education Stream targets the international graduates from the colleges and universities of Manitoba. Earlier, the candidates were required to have at least six months of work experience. But now, it is not so. The stream has three pathways:
- Career Employment Pathway
- Graduate Internship Pathway
- Student Entreprenuer Pathway
