In the draw held on February 18, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program(PEI PNP) invited 121 candidates to apply for provincial nomination. Most of these invitations, 102 of them to be precise, went to Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates. The remaining 19 invitations were issued to Business Impact candidates and the minimum point threshold of the invited candidates was 82.
PEI PNP Express Entry
The Express Entry category of PEI PNP is aligned to the federal Express Entry program. The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class. Each Express Entry candidate is awarded a score based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) based on various eligibility factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency etc. Candidates with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada. Those who have received a provincial nomination have 600 CRS score points added to their total score and that guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
To receive an invitation under the Express Entry category of PEI PNP, the candidates needs to submit an Expression of Interest. Each EoI profile is then awarded points based on the unique points grid of the province. Candidates with the highest scores are invited to apply for provincial nomination in the draws that are conducted in every month.
Labour Impact category
Labour Impact category targets foreign nationals with a valid job offer and support from their employer. The category has three streams under it, which are Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and International Graduate. This category also operates on the basis of an Expression of Interest system.
Business Impact category
The invitations under this category are issued under the Work Permit Stream. It targets foreign entrepreneurs who want to own and operate a business in Prince Edward Island.
