Prince Edward Island invited 142 candidates in March 17 PNP draw

In the new Provincial Nominee Program draw of Prince Edward Island held on March 17, the province invited 142 skilled worker and entrepreneur candidates to apply for nomination. The candidates were invited through the Labour Impact, Express Entry and Business Impact streams of Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program(PEI PNP). While the Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates received 130 invitations, Business Impact candidates received 11 invitations.

Prince Edward Island Express Entry stream

The Express Entry stream of PEI PNP considers candidates who have an active Express Entry profile. When an Express Entry candidates receive provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island, an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points will be added to their total CRS score. This will effectively guarantee them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canada immigration in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.

Prince Edward Island Labour Impact Category

This category has two streams under it, which are the Skilled Worker Stream and Critical Worker Stream.

  1. Skilled Worker Stream

To be eligible under the Skilled Worker Stream, the candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • A full-time employment offer from a PEI employer. The occupation should be classified under skill level “0”, “A” or “B” of the National Occupational Classification (NOC)
  • Post-secondary level education with at least 14 years of formal education.
  • Age between 21 and 55
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience acquired within the past 5 years.
  • Required level of proficiency in English or French.
  • Sufficient settlement funds
  • Intention to settle in Prince Edward Island.
  1. Critical Worker Stream

Foreign workers already in PEI can apply under this stream, if they have work experience in some specific critically in-demand occupations in the province. To be eligible, the candidate must have:

  • A full-time job offer from a PEI employer in one of the in-demand occupations
  • 6 months of work experience with the same employer
  • A valid Canadian work permit
  • Education equal to high school diploma with at least 12 years of formal education
  • Age between 21 and 55 years
  • At least 2 years of full-time work experience acquired within the past 5 years.
  • Basic-level proficiency in English or French
  • Proof of settlement funds
  • Intention to settle in Prince Edward Island.
