Yukon Nominee Program

As Yukon has a sparse population, immigrants, both skilled and semi-skilled, have plenty of opportunities here. One of the major pathways to migrate to Yukon is Yukon Nominee Program. The immigration categories for skilled workers under Yukon PNP are:

• Yukon Skilled Worker
• Yukon Express Entry

Yukon Skilled Worker

The Yukon Skilled Worker stream targets foreign nationals who have skilled work experience as well as a valid job offer from a Yukon employer. Upon receiving a provincial nomination from Yukon under this category, the candidate may directly apply for permanent residence in Canada with the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC).

To apply under this stream, a candidate must have a job offer for a position that comes under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) A, 0 or B category. The candidate must also have:

• A student visa or a valid Temporary Work Permit(TWP)
• Proof of work experience or education that qualifies him/her for the position
• Proof of education credentials. Education Credential Assessment (ECA) should be done.
• Meet the language requirements
• Minimum 12 months of full-time relevant work experience acquired within the past 10 years

Yukon Express Entry

Candidates with an active Express Entry profile and a valid job offer from a Yukon employer may apply for a provincial nomination from Yukon through the Yukon Express Entry stream. Eligibility under the Stream is assessed on the basis of education, work experience, language ability etc. The Stream is aligned to the federal Express Entry system and the selected candidates enjoy expedited processing of their application for immigration.

Major requirements:

• Express Entry profile with profile number and Job Seeker Validation Code
• Sufficient settlement funds
• Full-time permanent job offer from an eligible Yukon employer
• Genuine intention to live and work in Yukon

Yukon Critical Impact Worker

Candidates with semi-skilled work experience as well as a valid job offer from a Yukon employer may apply for a provincial nomination under this stream. However, the candidate also needs to meet certain other requirements. These including having a minimum score of 55 points on the Yukon Nominee Program Pre-Assessment points grid. Otherwise, the candidate must have worked for the same employer who is offering the job for at least six months on a valid work permit.

Yukon Community Pilot

Yukon Community Pilot(YCP) is a new addition to the streams under Yukon PNP. The Pilot program is launched specifically for the purpose of addressing the economic and labour market needs of Yukon. Those qualified under the Pilot program will receive a two-year location-restricted open work permit. As it is a pre-requisite that an applicant must work at least 30 hours per week at apply for permanent residence under the Yukon Community Pilot, the permit allows the applicant to work two or three jobs simultaneously. Moreover, Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is not necessary to obtain a work permit, which means faster processing of the applications.

The jobs must be for continuous (non-seasonal) work in one of the following participating communities:

• Whitehorse
• Watson Lake
• Dawson City
• Haines Junction
• Carmacks
• Carcross
