Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Stream to invite early childhood educators and assistants

Canada PR applications

Nova Scotia will invite early childhood educators and assistants to apply for provincial nomination through its new Labour Market Priorities Stream on August 8. This is the first draw of Nova Scotia’s new Express Entry-aligned Labour Stream.
The invitations would be sent to Express Entry candidates with minimum two years of experience in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) 4214. The main duty of early childhood educators is to plan, organize and implement programs for children between the ages of infancy and 12 years, according to NOC 4214. Early childhood educator assistants provide care for infants and preschool- to school-age children under the guidance of early childhood educators.

The candidates who receive Letters of Interest from Nova Scotia in the August 8th draw will have to submit letters of reference from employers, besides other requirements. The letter must be:

  • written on company letterhead
  • signed by the responsible human resources officer, supervisor, or manager
  • show the company’s full address, telephone number, e-mail and website addresses and be stamped with the company’s official seal (if applicable)

Besides, the letter must include all the following information in one document:

  • the specific period of your employment with the company
  • the positions the candidate has held during the employment period and time spent in each position
  • main responsibilities and duties in each position
  • annual salary and benefits in each position
  • number of hours worked per week in each position
  • proof that the candidate’s work experience meets the lead statement and the majority (at least 51%) of the main duties listed for NOC 4214

Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Stream

The first step to apply for the new Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Stream is to create an Express Entry profile. The Express Entry candidates who meet the labour market needs of Nova Scotia will be selected through the Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Stream. The candidates who receive provincial nomination from Nova Scotia will be awarded 600 additional CRS points. This increases their chances to be invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draws.
