Express Entry manages three economic immigration programs–The Federal Skilled Worker Program, The Federal Skilled Trade Program, and The Canadian Experience Class. The candidates with the highest Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the invitation rounds that are conducted regularly.
The applicants residing in the United States were ranked third among the candidates who received invitations through Express Entry in 2017. They comprise around 7 percent of the total invitations issued that year. The same year, the most number of Express Entry invitations were issued to Indian citizens. A total of 32,310 invitations were issued to Indian citizens, which comes to around 42 percent of the total invitations issued.
Provincial Nominee Programs
Provincial Nominee Programs allow migrants to come and settle in a Canadian particular province of their choice. Most of the immigration streams of PNPs employ point-based systems select candidates and award them points on the basis of a number of factors such as age, educational qualification and language proficiency. Some streams are aligned to Express Entry and the Express Entry candidates nominated by the provinces receive 600 additional CRS points that guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the next Express Entry draw.
