In its largest draw of the year held on August 13, Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) invited 253 candidates to apply for provincial nomination. The skilled worker and international graduate candidates were invited under three immigration streams: Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas and International Education. The distribution of invitations is as follows:
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 197
- Skilled Workers Overseas: 33
- International Education Stream: 23
MPNP immigration streams
Under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas streams, the province invites those candidates who can support its labour market needs. To be eligible under these streams, the candidates must have a previous connection to the province in the form of close family members or friends residing here or previous educational/work experience in Manitoba or an invitation received under one of the Strategic Recruitment Initiatives of Manitoba.
However, to be eligible for invitation under these streams, candidates need not be present in Manitoba at the time of submitting applications. But Skilled Workers in Manitoba category candidates must have full-time permanent job offer from a Manitoba employer to be eligible.
The International Education Stream of Manitoba targets international students who have graduated from one of the post-secondary education institutions of Manitoba and have skills that are in demand in the province.
Manitoba Express Entry
In the August 13 draw, nine Express Entry candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination from Manitoba. These candidates, if successfully apply for and obtain provincial nomination from Manitoba, will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points added to their total score and it guarantee them an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
Manitoba Expression of Interest
The first step for a candidate to receive an invitation to apply for provincial nomination from Manitoba is to submit an Expression of Interest (EoI) to the MPNP. Each EoI profile submitted in this manner is assessed and awarded a score out of 1000 on the basis of various eligibility factors such as official language proficiency, education, work experience, previous connection to the province etc. The highest scoring candidates receive an invitation to apply for provincial nomination in the draws that are conducted regularly. In the draw held on August 13, minimum EoI score required for candidates were:
Skilled workers in Manitoba: 485
Skilled Workers Overseas: 672
