In the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) draw held on September 17, a total of 345 economic immigration candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination. Of the total number of invitations issued in the latest draw, 313 were issued to Express Entry and Labour Impact category candidates, while the remaining 32 invitations were issued to entrepreneur candidates under the Business Impact: Work Permit Stream of PEI PNP.
Express Entry category
PEI PNP allows the province of Prince Edward Island to nominate a set number of immigrants for permanent residence in Canada. The Express Entry category of the PEI PNP is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. The Express Entry system manages applications for immigration under the three major economic immigration programs of Canada, which are the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class. The Express Entry candidates who receive provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island is awarded an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points, which guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
To be considered for provincial nomination under the Express Entry category, the candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest (EoI) to the PEI PNP. Each EoI profile submitted is assessed and awarded a score based on the unique points grid of the province. The candidates who score the highest points are invited to apply for provincial nomination in the PEI PNP draws that are conducted regularly.
Labour Impact category
The Labour Impact category targets immigration candidates with a valid job offer from a PEI employer. This category also operates on the basis of an Expression of Interest system and the candidates must submit an Expression of Interest to be considered for nomination.
Business Impact category
The minimum EoI score required for Business Impact category candidates to be invited in the latest PEI PNP draw was 102. The invitations were issued under the Work Permit Stream that targets foreign entrepreneurs who wish to own and operate a business in PEI.
