2000 candidates invited August 3 Express Entry draw

In the Express Entry draw held on August 3, 2022, Canada invited 2000 candidates to apply for permanent residence. The candidates who have received invitations in the draw had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 533. As the previous few Express Entry draws, the latest draw too was an all-program Express Entry draw and candidates from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) received invitations.

The previous Express Entry draw was held on July 20, in which 1750 candidates were invited. Compared to that, 250 more invitations have been issued in the latest draw. The CRS score requirement was also nine points lower compared to the previous draw.

A total of 5250 immigration candidates have received invitations ever since Canada resumed all program draws on July 6. The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) had paused all-program draws for 18 months until July 6, owing to the impact of the pandemic and also because of a huge backlog of applications for Canada migration. During this period, only those candidates belonging to the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Provincial Nominee Program(PNP) had received invitations.

In 2022, Canada is planning to welcome 55900 permanent residents through Express Entry. But by 2024, Canada will be welcoming 111500 immigrants through the immigration program.

What is Canada Express Entry?

Canada Express Entry is an online system for managing applications under the three economic immigration programs which are the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). To receive an invitation under Express Entry, the candidates must prove their eligibility for at least one of these programs.

Under the Express Entry system, candidates are assessed on the basis of the Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score. The candidates with the highest CRS scores will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in Canada in a subsequent Express Entry draw. Changes to Express Entry program

Canada has announced a number of significant changes to Express Entry, one of the country’s most popular economic immigration pathways. Experts predict that the Express Entry draw sizes would return to pre-pandemic levels. The draw sizes were reduced since September 2021 since when, no more than 1000 candidates were invited. Before the pandemic, the draw size in most of the Express Entry draws was around 3500. But since Canada resumed all-program draws, the draw sizes have increased and Canada has been inviting more than 1000 candidates in each draw.

Another major change that is expected in Express Entry is targeted Express Entry draws. When this comes into effect, Canada’s Immigration Minister will have the authority to invite candidates on the basis of groupings, which will be established on the basis of the economic goals of Canada at the time of conducting the draw. It means, CRS score would be less relevant than the skills and work experience of a candidate.

A new National Occupational Classification system would come into effect in November 2022. This system would categorise occupation by Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities (TEER). Under the new system, 16 more occupations would become eligible under Express Entry.
