This is a public research university established in the year 1966 in western Australia. The university got its name after John Curtin, the prime minister of Australia from 1941 to 1945. The university initially had its name as Western Australian Institue of Technology from 1966 to 1986. It acquired university status in the year 1986 and was renamed as Curtin University of Technology. It was called so, from 1986 to 2010. In 2010, it was named Curtin University.
After its university status acquisition, the university expanded its presence to the countries like Dubai, Mauritius, Singapore and Malaysia. It has tie-ups with 90 Universities in more than 20 countries. Curtin, with educating around 57000 students, becomes the largest university in Western Australia.
