Australian state of New South Wales(NSW) has invited immigration candidates to register their interest for Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (Subclass 491). From among those who have submitted the interest, the NSW government will select eligible candidates and invite them to a Regional Development Australia (RDA) office during the submission window and for up to seven days after it closes. Submission windows for the current financial year 2021) are August, October, January and March.
Streams to apply for NSW nomination
The candidates can apply for a nomination from New South Wales under three streams.
Those who are already living and working in regional New South Wales may apply for a nomination under Stream 1.
Stream 2 is for those who have completed their studies in the state’s regional areas.
Stream 3 is for those who have completed their education in the regional areas of the state.
Around 160 occupations have been listed under Stream 1. But the number varies for Streams 2 and 3, depending upon the region.
Stream 2
Both offshore and interstate applicants may apply under Stream 2. With this visa, skilled migrants may live, study and work in designated regional areas for five years. The fee for the visa starts from $4,115 and the current processing time varies from 10 to 13 months. To be eligible for an NSW nomination under Stream 2, a candidate must:
- Hold a valid skills assessment for an occupation featured on the occupation list of their nominated region.
- Must have completed their education with an education provider within the designated regional area of New South Wales in the previous 24 months.
- The study must meet the Australian study requirements. The qualification obtained from the study will be assessed in relation to the nominated occupation of the candidate.
- The candidate must have lived in a designated regional area of New South Wales while completing the study.
Stream 3
To be eligible under this stream, the candidate must have a valid skills assessment done for an occupation featured on the occupation list of the nominated region. They must also be residing in an Australian state or territory.
The candidates who wish to obtain a nomination from New South Wales , if eligible, may submit an expression of interest in Skill Select and register their interest during the submission window. The invited candidates will have to apply for a nomination within 14 days.
