Quebec invites 169 skilled workers in latest Arrima draw

According to Quebec’s Immigration Ministry, all the invited candidates were among those QSWP candidates whose original application had been annulled when Quebec introduced certain reforms to its Immigration Act on June 16, 2019. Further, all the candidates were either exempt from the cap that had been in place when they first applied to the QSWP or were residing in Quebec on a study or work permit on June 16, 2019. The invited candidates had also registered their Expressions of Interest in Arrima, the online registration portal of Quebec. With the latest draw, the total number of invitations issued by Quebec to QSWP candidates through Arrima since July 4 has touched 1595.
Quebec introduced the Arrima system in 2018 with an aim to streamline the selection of candidates for the QSWP. This is the Expression of Interest system that manages candidates for a Quebec Selection certificate with which they can apply for permanent residence in Canada. The Quebec government selects candidates either based on their score or factors such as the labour needs of various regions in the province. In order to be eligible, the candidate must score at least 50 points based on the points system if they are single. If the applicant has a spouse or common-law partner, they must score at least 59 points.
The selected candidates can apply for CSQ with which they can apply for permanent residence in Canada to the Federal Immigration Ministry that would verify the medical and criminal admissibility of the candidate.
