Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) draw held on February 16 invited 228 candidates to apply for provincial nomination. The invitations were issued through Labour Impact, Express Entry and Business Impact streams under the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). Among the 228 invitations issued, 222 went to Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates. Business Impact candidates received 6 invitations.
Prince Edward Island Expression of Interest system
Prince Edward Island launched the Expression of Interest system in 2018. Ever since, the PEI PNP had been conducting monthly Expression of Interest draws. However, some disruptions happened during the coronavirus pandemic. In 2022, Prince Edward Island issued a total of 1853 invitations. Among these, 1729 went to Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates.
Prince Edward Island Express Entry stream
The Prince Edward Island PNP targets those immigration candidates who are already in the federal Express Entry pool. If these candidates receive a provincial nomination through PEI PNP Express Entry stream, they will have an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points, It would guarantee them an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in Canada. The Express Entry category of PEI PNP has two pathways, one for candidates with a job offer and the other for those who do not have a job offer.
Prince Edward Island Labour Impact category
The Labour Impact Category of Prince Edward Island PNP has two streams under it, the Skilled Worker Stream and the Critical Worker stream.
PEI PNP Skilled Worker Stream
The Skilled Worker Stream under the PEI PNP is an employer-driven stream. This stream targets candidates with an employment offer. In order to receive a nomination under this stream, a candidate must meet the following requirements:
- A full-time employment offer from a PEI employer.
- The job offer must be in an occupation classified under TEER category 0, 1, 2 or 3 of the National Occupational Classification(NOC).
- The candidate must have completed post-secondary education, with at least 14 years of formal education.
- Age between 21 and 55 years
- At least two years of full time work experience obtained in the past five years.
- Proficiency in English or French
- Sufficient settlement funds
- Demonstrate the intention settle in Prince Edward Island
PEI PNP Critical Worker Stream
The Critical Worker Stream targets those workers who are already living in Prince Edward Island. They should be employed in specific critical occupations to be eligible under this stream. These include:
- Truck driver;
- Customer service representative;
- Labourer;
- Food & beverage server;
- Housekeeping attendant.
They must also meet the following requirements:
- Six months of work experience in a Prince Edward Island business offering employment
- A valid Canadian work permit
- High school diploma and minimum 12 years of formal education
- Age between 21 and 55 years
- Two years of full-time work experience obtained within the past 5 years
- Basic-level proficiency in English or French
- Sufficient settlement funds
- Intention to settle in Prince Edward Island
