Among those invited in the July 29 draw, 285 are Skilled Workers in Manitoba candidates with a minimum Expression of Interest(EOI) score of 400. The number of Skilled Workers Overseas candidates who received invitations in the draw is 47 and their minimum EOI score is 708. The remaining 43 invitations were issued to International Education Stream candidates and they had no EOI requirement. The number of Express Entry candidates who received invitations in the draw is 42.

Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program allows the province to select candidates who can meet its labour market requirements and nominate them for permanent residence in Canada. In order to receive a Letter of Advice to Apply for MPNP, one must submit an Expression of Interest. Each Expression of Interest profile is assessed by the MPNP and awarded a score out of 1000 points. These points are awarded on the basis of various human capital factors and previous connections to the province. The candidates who have the highest scores will receive an invitation under either the Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream or Skilled Workers Overseas Stream.

Major streams under MPNP

To be eligible under the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, candidates must demonstrate previous connections to Manitoba province in the form of close family ties, previous study or work experience in the province or an invitation issued through one of the Strategic Recruitment Initiatives of Manitoba. To receive an invitation under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba category, a candidate must have a full-time job offer from a provincial employer.

International graduates who have completed their education from a higher education institution in Manitoba may receive an invitation provided they have the skills that are in demand in Manitoba.

Manitoba nomination for Express Entry candidates

Express Entry candidates may apply for provincial nomination under the Skilled Workers Overseas category. In order to be eligible, a candidate must have an active Express Entry profile and work experience in one of Manitoba’s in-demand occupations, besides meeting other eligibility criteria. They must score at least 60 out of 100 on Manitoba’s points assessment grid to qualify. They must also have a settlement plan and settlement funds.

The candidates who have received an invitation may apply for a provincial nomination from Manitoba within 60 days. If they receive a provincial nomination, they will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points. This would guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
