In the draw held on December 1, the province of Prince Edward Island invited 69 skilled workers in Canada immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination. The invitations were issue through the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). Usually, Prince Edward Island conducts draws as per the schedule of monthly provincial draws it publishes at the beginning of every year. But recently, the province has begun to conduct draws outside this schedule as well.
PEI PNP Expression of Interest system
The province of Prince Edwards Island launched the Expression of Interest system in 2018, with an aim to select eligible candidates through the Business Impact Work Permit Entrepreneur and Labour Impact & and Express Entry streams of the PEI PNP. Those interested to settle in Prince Edward Island must first submit an Expression of Interest under the online system of PEI. The selected candidates from among them will be invited to apply for a provincial nomination. Those who successfully apply and obtain a provincial nomination may apply for permanent residence in Canada with that.
Last year, Prince Edward Island issued a total of 1933 invitations. Out of these, 1764 invitations went to Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates. The remaining 169 invitations went to Business Impact candidates.
PEI PNP Express Entry stream
The Express Entry stream of PEI PNP targets those candidates who are already in the federal Express Entry pool. If a candidate receives provincial nomination, they will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score points added to their total score. This would guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada, in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw. The Express Entry category of PEI PNP has two pathways under it, one for the candidates with a job offer and the other for those who do not have a job offer.
PEI PNP Labour Impact category
PEI PNP Labour Impact category has two streams under it, the Skilled Worker Stream and Critical Worker stream
