Ontario invited close to 1000 Skilled Trades, French-speaking candidates

Canada PR applications

Ontario has so far invited a total of 988 Express Entry candidates through its Skilled Trades and French-Speaking Skilled Worker streams to apply for provincial nomination as the first month of the year 2019 is about to end. The candidates were invited under Skilled Trades and French-Speaking Skilled Worker streams.
Ontario Skilled Trades Stream
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) issued 889 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) through the Express Entry-aligned Skilled Trades Stream on January 24. It was the first draw under the stream in the year 2019. The invitations were issued to candidates who had submitted their Express Entry profiles between January 24, 2018, and January 24, 2019.
Under the Skilled Trades Stream, Ontario selects Express Entry candidates currently living in Ontario. The candidates must have minimum one year of full-time work experience in a skilled trade listed in Minor Group 633 or Major Group 72, 73, or 82 under Canada’s National Occupational Classification (NOC).
French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream
Ontario conducted three separate invitation rounds under the Express Entry-linked French Speaking Skilled Worker Stream in January. A total of 28 Notifications of Interest were issued in the latest draw held on January 24. The other two invitation rounds were held on January 17 and 11 and a total of 71 NoIs were issued.
In order to be eligible under the French Speaking Skilled Worker Stream, the candidates must have French language proficiency equivalent to a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or above. They must also fulfil other eligibility criteria.
The candidates do not require a job offer to apply under either the Skilled Trades stream or the French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream. The candidates who receive NoIs under both these streams must also meet the eligibility criteria under the Federal Skilled Worker Class or the Canadian Experience Class.
Ontario has so far issued around 2,500 NOIs to Express Entry candidates through its three Express Entry-linked provincial nomination streams. In the Human Capital Priorities Stream draw held on January 14, Ontario issued 1493 invitations.
All the candidates who have received the NoIs must submit the completed application for provincial nomination within 45 calendar days. Those who obtain provincial nomination from Ontario will receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points that would ensure them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in subsequent Express Entry draw.
