The year 2022 is another record-breaking one for Nova Scotia in terms of the number of immigrants being welcomed by the province. As in September 2022, Nova Scotia has already welcomed 10670 immigrants in the current year. This is the highest compared to the same period in any year. If this trend continues throughout the remaining three months of the current year, the province would have welcomed a total of 14227 new permanent residents by the end of this year. It would be 5042 or 55 per cent more compared to the year 2021. The year 2021 was also a record-breaking one with 9155 new permanent residents settling in the province.

The Atlantic Immigration Program of Canada is showing a steady growth in the current year. This year, the number of immigrants coming to Canada through this program will be 8.4 per cent higher. It means 2900 more new immigrants compared to the last year. Nova Scotia being an Atlantic Province, it will also be enjoying the advantage of this growth in the number of AIP immigrants.
The number of immigrants coming to the province through the Federal Skilled Worker Program(FSWP) has also increased manifold during the current year. In fact, the number of immigrants in this category recorded 406.7 percent increase or 203 in number compared to the previous year. Further, the number of immigrants settling in the province through family class immigration pathways has also increased. By the end of the year, 1067 new immigrants would be settled in Nova Scotia. It indicates a 46.1 percent increase compared to the previous year.
