In the latest draw held on February 27, Saskatchewan invited 83 Express Entry candidates to apply for provincial nomination. The invited candidates had an Expression of Interest (EoI) registered under the International Skilled Worker- Saskatchewan Express Entry sub-category of Saskatchewan.
International Skilled Worker- Saskatchewan Express Entry sub-category
The International Skilled Worker-Saskatchewan Express Entry sub-category of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) allows the province to nominate candidates from the federal Express Entry system for permanent residence in Canada. The candidates must be eligible for one of the three federal economic programs managed under the Express Entry system–Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades and Canadian Experience Class. The candidates who are nominated by Saskatchewan would receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points that will guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
The Express Entry candidates who wish to be considered for provincial nomination from Saskatchewan must first submit a separate EoI to SINP. The EoI must include information on basic eligibility factors such as education, work experience, language proficiency and connections to the province. The Express Entry candidates are also supposed to have work experience in a high-skilled occupation that is included in the In-Demand Occupations List of Saskatchewan.
Other major eligibility requirements
- Proof of legal status, if currently residing in Canada
- Express Entry profile number and Job Seeker Validation Code, which must be included in the SINP application
- Language test results from a designated testing agency to prove language proficiency
- A degree, diploma, certificate, or a certificate equivalent to a trade certificate obtained after at least one year of post-secondary education or training, comparable to the Canadian education system
- Proof of Professional Status or Licensure if required
- Proof of settlement funds
Based on all these eligibility criteria, each profile is awarded a score out of 100 and those who score at least 60 points enter the pool of eligible candidates. A set number of highest-scoring candidates are invited to apply for provincial nomination in the draws that are conducted regularly. The lowest score of candidates invited to apply for provincial nomination in the February 27 draw was 68.
