In the largest draw since the travel restrictions were imposed in Canada in the month of March in the wake of coronavirus pandemic, Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) invited 502 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination. In the July 29 draw, invitations were issued under the International Skilled Worker category through two subcategories–Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand.
SINP Expression of Interest
To receive an invitation under either the Express Entry or the Occupation In-demand sub-category of SINP, the candidate must first submit an Expression of Interest. These Expressions of Interest are assessed on the basis of various eligibility factors that include work experience, education, language ability, age and previous connections to the province. Each Expression of Interest profile is then awarded a score out of 100, and the highest scoring candidates receive an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan. The minimum score required for candidates in the July 29 draw was 70 in both categories.
SINP Express Entry
In the July 29 draw, 254 Express Entry candidates received invitations to apply. The federal Express Entry system manages immigration applications under the three major federal economic-class immigration programs of Canada, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.
These SINP Express Entry candidates who have received invitations in the draw, if successfully apply for and obtain provincial nomination from Saskatchewan, will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points added to their total CRS score. That ensures an Invitation to Apply for provincial nomination in the subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
SINP Occupations in Demand
Occupations In-Demand sub-category targets those immigration candidates who do not have an Express Entry profile. In the July 29 Occupations In-Demand sub-category, 248 candidates with work experience in any one of the 43 targeted occupations received invitations to apply.
