WHATSAPPOntario has revised its minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement for the Human Capital Priorities stream that is aligned to Express Entry. While candidates were earlier required to have a minimum CRS score of 400 to qualify for the Stream, now the minimum required CRS score is “as determined by the director.”
Another change introduced is that the candidates are required to indicate if they prefer to immigrate to Ontario or all provinces and territories in Canada, when they create their Express Entry profile.
Ontario has already waived the minimum CRS requirement of 400 in three draws held this year. Two of these were for candidates with a job offer from an Ontario employer while one was for candidates with French language abilities of CLB 7 or higher. For one draw among these, the targeted job offer draw held on August 9, Ontario brought down the minimum CRS requirement to as low as 350.
Human Capital Priorities Stream
Ontario has so far issued a total of 3,534 Notifications of Interest through the Human Capital Priorities Stream (HCP) this year alone. The (HCP) of Ontario helps the province select eligible candidates from the federal Express Entry pool to invite to apply for provincial nomination. Candidates cannot apply directly to the stream. Instead, Ontario Nominee Program (OINP) will issue a Notification of Interest (NOI) to selected candidates based on their eligibility. The candidates who receive NoIs can apply for Ontario provincial nomination within 45 days. If the candidate receives provincial nomination, they can apply to IRCC for Canada permanent residence.
But as the first step, the candidate must check if he/she qualifies to enter the federal Express Entry pool. An eligible candidate can enter the federal Express Entry pool either through Federal Skilled Worker Class or the Canadian Experience Class.
