Alberta held its fourth Express Entry draw of 2020 on February 20 and invited a total of 150 candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score as low as 300. It is not mandatory for the Alberta Express Entry stream candidates to have a job offer from the province. But they need to have an active Express Entry profile in order to qualify under the Stream.
Canada Express Entry
Canada Express Entry system manages applications for immigration through the three major federal economic class immigration programs of the country, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. To enter the Express Entry pool, a candidate must first create an Express Entry profile. Each of these profiles is assessed on the basis of various human capital factors that include work experience, education, official language proficiency and age. Express Entry candidates are ranked on the basis of the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), under which each candidate is awarded a score out of 1200 based on the above-said human capital factors. The highest-scoring candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence in the federal Express Entry draws that are conducted regularly.
The candidates who receive provincial nomination will have 600 additional CRS score points added to their total CRS score. It guarantees them an Invitation to Apply for PR in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
If a candidate with a CRS score of 300 has received invitation in the latest draw, they will receive another 600 CRS score points if they obtain provincial nomination from Alberta. So their total CRS score would be 900. The minimum CRS score of the candidates who received invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the latest federal Express Entry draw was only 471.
