In the latest Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) draw held on November 5, a total of 205 candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination. The draw invited candidates belonging to three immigration streams under the MPNP, which are:
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream
- International Education Stream
- Skilled Workers Overseas Stream
Of the total number of invitations issued, 166 went to Skilled Workers in Manitoba candidates with a minimum score of 461. 16 Skilled Workers Overseas candidates with a minimum score of 708 also received invitations, while the total number of Skilled Workers Overseas candidates was 23, with no EoI score required. The Skilled Worker Overseas candidates invited in the draw were selected through a strategic recruitment initiative.
MPNP informed that if candidates with score above the minimum required score have not received an invitation in the draw, it may be because of the following reasons:
- The third-party language test of the candidate did not have a valid test number
- The language test of the candidate is no longer valid
- The candidate was invited under a strategic recruitment initiative, but they failed to send a valid invitation number.
Such candidates may update their EoI profile in order to be considered for the next draw, informed the MPNP. It further made clear that the application for provincial nomination from candidates working in a regulated occupation may be refused if they are not actually working in a regulated occupation and fail to produce proof of having completed all licensing steps for employment in Manitoba. Such candidates may decline the information.
With the November 5 draw, the total number of invitations issued by MPNP so far this year has reached 4273.
MPNP Express Entry
The number of Express Entry candidates who received invitations in the draw was 7. These candidates must have a valid Express Entry ID, a job seeker validation code and work experience in an occupation in the In-demand Occupations list of Manitoba. If nominated, the Express Entry candidates will receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points that would guarantee them an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in Canada.
MPNP immigration streams
In order to apply for provincial nomination under either Skilled Workers in Manitoba or Skilled Workers Overseas stream, the candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest to the MPNP. Each Expression of Interest profile submitted in this manner will be assessed on the basis of various eligibility factors such as language proficiency, education, work experience, previous connections to the province and awarded a score out of 1000.
The Skilled Workers Overseas category and Skilled Workers in Manitoba streams allow Manitoba to select candidates with the skills that are in demand in the province’s labour market. The candidates applying from abroad should have an established connection to the province in the form of close family members or friends residing in the country or an invitation received through one of the Strategic Recruitment Initiatives of MPNP.
The Skilled Workers in Manitoba must also meet certain other criteria such as a full-time permanent job offer from a Manitoba employer. Similarly, the International Education stream targets those candidates who have graduated from a recognized educational institution in Manitoba and possess in-demand skills.
