WHATSAPPIn the Canada Express Entry draw held on March 31, a total of 284 candidates received invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The draw exclusively targeted provincial nominees and the minimum required Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was 778. When an Express Entry candidate is nominated by a province for permanent residence in Canada, they receive 600 additional CRS score points. So the minimum basic CRS score of the candidates invited in the March 31 draw was 178.
Tie-break rule was applied in the draw and only those candidates who had submitted their Express Entry profile before March 16, 2021 at 16:09:32 UTC received invitations.
Ever since Canada imposed border restrictions in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak in March 2020, Express Entry draws have increasingly been targeting Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates. One reason for this was that candidates under these categories were highly likely to be residing in Canada at the time of receiving the invitation. Along with that, the Express Entry draws also aimed fulfilling the demand for labour in Canadian provinces and territories by inviting provincial nominees.
This year, Canada has set the target of admitting more than one lakh candidates through Express Entry. To meet this target, Canada has already invited 44124 Express Entry candidates so far in 2021. The number of Express Entry invitations issued during the same period last year was 22600.
