A total of 521 Express Entry candidates received invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-specific Express Entry draw held on September 15. The candidates were required to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 732 to receive the invitation. This high CRS score requirement is justified by the fact that the PNP candidates have already received 600 additional CRS score points along with their nomination.
The Express Entry candidates who have received the invitations in this draw may submit their complete application within 60 days. The previous PNP-only Express Entry draw was held on September 1, which invited 635 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 764.
A remarkable year for Express Entry
2021 has been a remarkable year for Express Entry for many reasons. Compared to the same period last year, the number of ITAs issued so far has almost doubled this year. A total of 108935 candidates have already received ITAs in 2021. The annual immigration target for Express Entry this year is 108500.
This is also the year which witnessed the biggest Express Entry draw ever on February 13, in which 27,332 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 75 received invitations. For the first time in the history of Express Entry, all CEC candidates in the Express Entry pool received invitations to apply for permanent residence in a draw.
Throughout this year, Express Entry draws have alternated between PNP and Canadian Experience Class. The latest draw is the 18th PNP-only Express Entry draw of 2021.
Canada Express Entry
The Express Entry system of Canada, introduced for the first time in 2015, manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs, which are the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class(CEC) and Federal Skilled Trades Program(FSTP). Besides, almost all the PNP programs have at least one stream or category aligned to the federal Express Entry. Once a candidate creates an Express Entry profile, it is assessed on the basis of various human capital factors such as age, education, work experience etc. and awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System score out of 1200. Those with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the Express Entry draws that are conducted regularly. The candidates may then apply for Canada PR along with relevant documents within 60 days. If their application is approved, they will receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence using which they can land in Canada.
