In the Express Entry draw held on March 30, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 919 candidates to apply for permanent residence. This draw, as in the previous Express Entry draws since September 2021, exclusively targeted Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) of the invited candidates was 785. As the PNP candidates must have already received 600 additional CRS score points, we can say that the lowest base score in the draw was mere 185. The candidates who have received the invitations may apply for permanent residence in Canada within 60 days.
In the previous Express Entry draw held on March 16 the IRCC had invited 924 PNP candidates to apply for Canada immigration. However, many of the immigration candidates are eager to know when Canada will resume inviting Canadian Experience Class(CEC) and Federal Skilled Worker Program(FSWP) candidates through Express Entry. The FSWP candidates have not been invited since December 2020 and CEC candidates since September 2021. It has been informed that Canada is now giving priority to reduce the application backlog before resuming inviting candidates from categories other than PNP. It is expected that Express Entry would resume inviting these candidates this year itself.
Canada Express Entry
The Express Entry system is an online management system for immigration applications under the three federal economic immigration programs, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program(FSWP), Canadian Experience Class(CEC) and Federal Skilled Trades Program(FSTP). To receive a Canada Express Entry invitation, a candidate must first create an Express Entry profile. Each profile is assessed on the basis of various human capital factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency and awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score. The candidates have a provincial nomination are awarded 600 additional CRS score points that guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
