Alberta conducted a PNP draw under its Express Entry stream and invited candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 382. A total of 100 received invitations in the draw held on May 19. The candidates were selected from among those who have expressed their interest to permanently settle in Alberta and have work experience in an occupation that support the economic development and diversification priorities of the province. In the previous Alberta Express Entry draw held on April 14, a total of 250 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 356 had received invitations.
Alberta Express Entry stream
The Express Entry stream of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program helps the province to select immigration candidates from the federal Express Entry pool and nominate them for permanent residence in Canada. So, in order to apply under this stream, a candidate needs to receive a notification of interest from Alberta. The Accelerated Tech Pathway of Alberta also falls under this stream, which offers a fast-track to permanent residence for candidates with job offer in one of the 38 technology occupations.
To be eligible under the Stream, a candidate must have:
- An active Express Entry profile
- Have state their interest to permanently settle in Alberta
- To be working in an occupation that supports the economic development and diversification priorities of Alberta
- A CRS score of at least 300
The candidates who have previous study or work experience in Alberta or a close relative residing in the province have a better chance to receive a notification of interest from Alberta.
If an Express Entry candidate receives a notification of interest, they may submit the complete application for provincial nomination from Alberta. Upon receiving the nomination, they will have 600 additional CRS score points added to their total score. This would make them eligible to receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada, in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
