In the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) held on May 18, the province invited 138 candidates to apply for provincial nomination. The invited candidates belong to the Ontario Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream. This is the first Ontario PNP draw being held for international students after switching to a new intake system. The minimum required EOI score was 77.
Ontario Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream:
The International Student Stream of Ontario allows foreign nationals with job offer from Ontario to apply for provincial nomination. The stream exclusively targets those candidates who have completed their education at a Designated Learning Institution in Canada and want to settle in Ontario. It is not necessary for the candidate to be present in Canada at the time of submitting the application.
However, the candidate should have work experience in an occupation classified under Level 0, A or B of National Occupational Classification(NoC) of Canada. The employer and the job offer also need to meet the program criteria.
The candidates must apply under this category within two years of completing their study program in Canada.
How receive an invitation?
In order to receive an invitation under the International Student Stream of Ontario, first you need to submit an Expression of Interest on the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program(OINP). Based on the information provided in the Expression of Interest, an EoI score will be awarded. The factors considered for awarding the EoI score include your skill level, work experience, education, language proficiency etc. Those with the highest scores receive invitation from OINP to apply for provincial nomination.
Upon receiving a provincial nomination under the Ontario Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream, the candidate may apply for Permanent Residence in Canada. They can also apply for a temporary work permit with which they can work in Canada till they receive the permanent residence status.
This work permit will be valid for six months and can be extended upon request. However, if there are any changes in job offer conditions such as job position, duties, location, wages or working hours, the candidate needs to inform the OINP. Same applies to the situation where the employment is ceased either by the applicant or the employer.
