The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC) held a surprise Express Entry draw on May 20, exclusively targeting Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates. The draw is being held just a week after the previous draw, which was held on May 14.
The minimum required Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score dropped to 397 in the May 20 draw that invited 1842 candidates to apply for permanent residence. This is the lowest CRS score requirement ever since the historic CRS draw that invited 27332 CEC candidates with a minimum score of 75 on February 13, 2021.
A tie-break rule was applied in the latest draw as in the previous draws. The time stamp given was April 24, 2021 at 12:09:24 UTC. It means only those candidates who had submitted their Express Entry profiles before the said date and time received invitations in the draw.
Canada Express Entry 2021
So far in 2021, the IRCC has invited 68317 candidates to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The number ITAs issued by Canada during the same period last year was 38200. The annual immigration target set by Canada for the year 2021 is 401000. To achieve this target, Canada has been conducting draws with larger draw sizes throughout this year. However, the Express Entry draws have been alternating between Canadian Experience Class(CEC) and Provincial Nominee Program(PNP) candidates. The CRS score requirement for CEC candidates is lower compared to PNP candidates, as PNP candidates receive an additional 600 CRS score points along with provincial nomination. With Express Entry draws and application processing in full swing, it is expected that Canada would meet its ambitious immigration target set for this year.
