Highlights
1. IRCC held its fifteenth category-based Express Entry draw on December 19.
2. This also marks the 276th Express Entry draw since 2015.
3. 1,000 Express Entry profiles having work experience in trades professions – carpenters, plumbers, electricians, welders, HVAC technicians, contractors, and supervisors – received invitations to apply for Canada PR.
4. The qualifying CRS score increased to 425 points.
5. So far, IRCC invited 22,000+ targeted profiles to apply for PR under the new category-based Express Entry draws.
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held its second category-based selection under the Express Entry system for Trade occupations.
It resulted in 1,000 qualified candidates under FSWP, CEC, or FSTP receiving invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residency (PR). Such profiles require you to have at least six months of work experience in any of the below-listed occupations under the Trades occupation (2023-1).
Furthermore, all the invited candidates had a qualifying score based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) above 425. It is 37 points higher than the previous selection-based draws for trade occupations.
IRCC also considered profiles submitted on or before November 04, 2023, at 11:16:58 UTC in case of a tie in the CRS score.
List of Occupations Eligible for Trades (2023-1) Category-Based Draws
Skilled trades occupations in Canada require specialized knowledge, technical skills, and manual dexterity. Here is a list of eligible professionals and their NOC under the Trades occupation (2023-1) Express Entry category:

Qualifying for Upcoming Category-Based Express Entry Draws
Canada has already held thirteen category-based Express Entry draws besides this one. Consequently, candidates under the healthcare occupations (2023-1), STEM occupations (2023-1), French-speaking (2023-1), Transport Occupation (2023-1), Agriculture And Agri-Food Occupations (2023-1) categories became eligible.
This further indicates IRCC’s plan to target more occupation-specific profiles already registered in the federal Express Entry pool soon.
