Alberta Express Entry stream

The Express Entry stream of Alberta allows the province to select eligible candidates from the federal Express Entry pool and nominate them for permanent residence in Canada. The Express Entry system of Canada manages applications for immigration under the three federal economic immigration programs, which are the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program. Most of the Provincial Nominee Programs also have pathways aligned to the Express Entry system. Under the Express Entry system, the candidates are assessed and ranked on the basis of Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) score, which is awarded considering various eligibility factors such as age, education, work experience, language ability etc. The Express Entry candidates who have a provincial nomination will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System score points added to their total score. This would guarantee them an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

To be eligible to receive an invitation under the Alberta Express Entry stream, the candidate must have work experience in an eligible occupation. The candidate must also have indicated their interest to settle in Alberta. If they have work experience  or a job offer in Alberta, their chances of receiving an invitation will be high. Canadian education and a close family member residing in the province are other favourable factors for receiving an invitation from Alberta.
