In the Express Entry draw held on February 5, the Government of Canada invited 3500 candidates to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off score for the draw was 472. Though the CRS cut-off score has increased by one point, the number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) issued has also been increased by 100 from 3400 in the previous draw.
Tie-break rule was applied in the latest draw, the time stamp given being January 30, 2020, at 07:36:26 UTC. It means all those with a minimum CRS score of 472, who had submitted their Express Entry profiles before the said date and time, received ITAs in the draw.
Canada Express Entry draw
The Express Entry system manages applications for immigration through the three federal economic immigration programs which are, the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class. Each candidate who creates an Express Entry profile is assessed on the basis of various eligibility factors such as age, education, work experience and language proficiency and awarded a CRS score out of 1200. A set number of top-ranking candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the Express Entry draws that are conducted regularly. The standard processing time of Express Entry applications is six months.
With the February 5 draw, the total number of ITAs issued through the Express Entry draws has touched 10,300. Canada is planning to admit 85,800 new permanent residents through Express Entry. The target for 2021 is 88800.
Canada PNP
Most of the Provincial Nominee Programs have enhanced streams aligned to the federal Express Entry. The CRS requirement for most of these streams is either lower or nil. Those who receive provincial nominations will have 600 additional points added to their total CRS score. This year, Canada plans to admit 67,800 candidates through PNPs, while the target for next year is 713000.
