IRCC issues 3900 ITAs in March 4 Express Entry draw

Express Entry Draw

In the latest federal Express Entry draw held on March 4, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC) issued Invitations to Apply(ITAs) for permanent residence in Canada to a total of 3900 immigration candidates. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off score in this all-program draw was 471. In the previous draw held on February 19, IRCC had invited 4500 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 470.
As in the previous draws, tie-breaking rule was applied in the latest draw too, the time stamp given being February 24, 2020 at 06:02:57 UTC. It means IRCC prioritized those candidates who had submitted their Express Entry profiles before the said date and time and scored a minimum of 471 CRS points.

Canada is planning to increase the immigration levels up to 350,000 by 2021. Of this total number of immigrants, around 90000 candidates will be welcomed through the Express Entry. Immigration experts believe that the increased immigration levels would prevent the CRS cut-off score from shooting up further, which means candidates with CRS score in the current range can expect to receive an ITA soon.
The March 4 draw is the 5th Express Entry draw to be held in 2020 and the IRCC has so far issued a total of 18,700 invitations this year. Canada is planning to issue a total of 85,800 ITAs through Express Entry this year and the high number of invitations being issued through the federal Express Entry draws must be seen in this context.

Canada Express Entry migration
Those who wish to migrate to Canada through Express Entry must create an Express Entry profile. Based on the information provided in the profile regarding various eligibility factors such as age, education, language proficiency, work experience etc., each candidate is awarded a CRS score out of 1200. IRCC sets a CRS cut-off score for every Express Entry draw and those who qualify based on this score are invited apply for permanent residence in Canada. The CRS makes Express Entry an impartial, impersonal and fair system to select candidates for Canada migration.
To enter the Express Entry pool, a candidate must prove their eligibility under one of the three major federal economic immigration programs managed under the Express Entry, which are Federal Skilled Worker Class, Canadian Experience Class, or Federal Skilled Trades Class. The candidates who receive provincial nomination through an Express Entry-aligned Provincial Nominee Program category/stream are awarded an additional 600 CRS score points that guarantee them an invitation to apply for Canada PR in the subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
