In the 165th Express Entry draw held on October 14, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC) issued 4500 Invitations to Apply(ITAs) for permanent residence in Canada. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in the draw was 471. While the number of ITAs issued has increased by 300 compared to the previous draw held on September 30, the minimum CRS score requirement remained the same as in the previous draw.
From September 2 onwards, IRCC has been conducting all-program draws in two every weeks, inviting 4200 candidates per draw. This is the first time after the February 2 draw this year, Canada is inviting 4500 candidates to apply for permanent residence.
At the same time, the CRS score requirement hovered around 470 in all-program Express Entry draws this year. In the Federal Skilled Trades Program draw held on August 6, the CRS score requirement was 415 and in Canadian Experience Class-specific draws, the CRS score dipped to 440s. The PNP-specific draws, at the same time, had maintained a high CRS score requirement.
Tie-break rule was applied in the October 14 draw and the time stamp given was September 1, 2020, at 12:11:23 UTC. It means all candidates with a minimum score of 471, who had submitted their Express Entry profiles before the said date and time, received invitations in the October 14 draw.
With the latest Express Entry draw, the total number Express Entry invitations issued by IRCC so far this year has reached 82,850. This is so far the highest number of ITAs to be issued in any year during the same time period.
Canada Express Entry system
Canada Express Entry system manages applications for immigration under the three major economic immigration programs of the country, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class as well as some Provincial Nominee Programs.
